Paediatric massage therapy for children with autism

This project seeks to use Chinese paediatric massage to improve the quality of life for children with autism. Known to enhance the function of the heart, liver, and kidney, this massage technique can help to restore the flow of Qi and improve sensory processing, which may help to alleviate mental health and behavioural issues among children with autism. The project will provide home-based paediatric massage to children with autism, employing stay-home mothers who will work within their own districts to serve the needs of these children.

This is part of the project ‘Educating stay-home mothers to implement paediatric massage techniques for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD)’ led by Prof. Zhang Jian Guo (School of Chinese Medicine). The project is supported by the Knowledge Transfer Project Fund (KPF22GWP02).
