Inclusive Museums

The inclusive museum initiatives raise as one of the CUHK 60th anniversary celebratory activities. This initiative aims to enhance museum accessibility in CUHK for visitors with special needs.

Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change – Inclusive Museum Exhibition

The Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change (MoCC) is dedicated to supporting individuals of all backgrounds and abilities to take action in reducing carbon emissions and embracing a sustainable way of life. Recognizing the challenge in effectively communicating climate change, the MoCC has over the past year taken steps, in collaboration with the Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies of CUHK and the Audio Description Association (Hong Kong), to develop climate-related educational materials, particularly for those with special needs. The Inclusive Museum exhibition curated by the MoCC includes interpretations in Hong Kong sign language and audio guides for selected exhibits, making crucial climate information more accessible to a wider audience. This initiative aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can engage with and learn from the MoCC exhibits and become part of Hong Kong’s climate action.

Universities have a responsibility to bring about sustainable development in society. They are expected to be responsive to pressing societal issues and sustainability challenges and to act to integrate changes in internal organization, knowledge creation, educational models, information technologies, social responsibility and knowledge transfer.

As one of Hong Kong’s pioneering universities, CUHK takes a holistic approach to social responsibility, connecting and articulating its vision, goals and priorities to guide planning and management practices. We are resolved to establish ourselves at the forefront of social responsibility and to address various sustainable development targets, ranging from health to education, inclusion to partnerships, and climate action to responsible processes.

The University seeks to ensure that all its members understand and identify with CUHK’s values and are engaged in the quest for a sustainable world both for themselves and for those who follow in their footsteps.
